Our History & Heritage
My father’s father was a farmer. He was passionate, hard working and owned a wickedly loveable sense of humour. Duties on the farm were extremely varied – from milking cows to ploughing fields and of course – trimming hedges. For as long as I can remember, he spent all day, every day from September to March on a tractor cutting hedges around the county of Leicestershire for various other farmers as well as on his own land. And he loved it too, only eventually giving up when he was no longer physically able to at the grand old age of 90!
My mother’s father was not a farmer, although he did work the fields as a young man. He was a nurturing, gentle man with a heart of pure gold. His passion was his garden. Mowing his lawn, pruning the roses, tending his flowers and of course trimming his hedges. He would spend countless hours in his garden making it look spectacularly immaculate. He would open his garden to the public each year and show off his hard work and oh how they would enjoy it! There was always something so special about his garden and the love he poured into it.

Now, no doubt you will surely be noticing a theme here and of course there is one common one – Hedges! Now, I truly believe that ‘The Hedge Cutting Company’ was born long ago but has only now come to fruition. With the culmination of each of my forefather’s passions, the focus on hedge care and inevitable obsession with a tidy garden was bound to arise!
